Joe Marston

I have been passionate about the forest and the wood that comes form it since I was very young (about 4-5). I have been involved with various aspects of woodworking for about the same time. Wood as an art from became an endeavor in the mid 1980’s. There are two principles I strive to follow. The first is all products will be made from species of wood native to Maine. The second is that wood will be as fully utilized as possible.

My puzzles are mostly designs of various animals consisting of 2-5 pieces. Toy cars, trucks and trains are all made in a wide variety of designs and sizes. Puzzles, cars, trucks, and trains are finished with fiber reactive dye. The dye chemically bonds to the wood rendering it kid safe. Cutting boards are done in the end grain configuration. These are made from only species native to Maine - no exotic woods. Tea candle holders are done with a 7-step finish that I developed. All of these items are made from hardwoods.
