Growing up around boats and sailing to distant locales have influenced Carol's artistic style and themes. Mother Nature in all her mercurial forms inspires Carol's artistry as she interprets the sea, sky, flora, and fauna in her work, literally and figuratively.
The challenge of painting on silk with dyes is unlike any other medium. It can project a very impressionistic, loose effect or be quite controlled. Combining these methods, along with endless experimentation, keeps her work fresh and vibrant. The results are often surprising, but never disappointing. She has created a body of work based on Maine themes of wildlife, landscapes, and macro views of nature.
Carol has enjoyed a long career of creating fiber art in many iterations. The medium of painting on silk with dye has rekindled a love that she was introduced to 25 years ago. She finds no shortage of inspiration to translate her chosen images onto silk. Carol is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art and over the years has continued her artistic journey through workshops and classes in a variety of mediums.
