I have been studying and practicing pottery since I was in high school. I have studied pottery at UMass. Amherst, the Harvard-Radcliffe Studio, Mass. College of Art and the University of Maine. I primarily work in high fire stonewares and am most influenced by Japanese and Scandinavian potters.
I enjoy making utilitarian pieces that are used daily, but sometimes produce decorative pieces which are fired using alternative methods. I have used salt, soda, raku and wood firings in the past and plan on utilizing some of these techniques in Mercer at my new studio.
