Helene (aka Helene From Maine) is originally from NYC but landed in Farmington in the 80s.
Helene is a painter and primarily works in encaustic (the molten beeswax-based ancient medium used by the Greeks to seal holes in their boats).
Her subject matter varies from imaginative landscapes to birds / other critters to a thoughtful series titled "What We Carry". Farrar is also a formal art educator and has exhibited and taught across New England, New York, Italy and England.
Farrar has a Master of Fine Arts from Goddard College and a BA in Art from the University of Maine.
She is represented by Archipelago of Rockland and the Center for Maine Craft in W. Gardiner. Farrar currently resides in Manchester, Maine in her farmhouse studio where she also runs a small art school for young ones to young at heart. :)
